INFORMATION BRIEF ON THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND TERRITORIAL DIVISION OF THE VINNYTSIA REGION
Since December 2020, a new administrative and territorial system has been introduced in Ukraine, according to which the Vinnytsia region is divided into 6 districts, which unite 63 territorial communities including 1,503 settlements. There are 6 cities of regional significance in the region. The administrative center of the region is the city of Vinnytsia. The territory of the region is 26.5 thousand km2, which is equal to 4.4% of the territory of Ukraine.
The population, according to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine as of 1.01.2021 is 1529,1 thousand people.
Geographical position: the region is located in the forest-steppe belt of the Right-Bank Ukraine. 204 rivers flow through the territory of the region, the largest of them are the Southern Bug and the Dniester.
Distance from the city of Vinnytsia to the city of Kyiv: by car – 266 km, by train – 222 km, on motorway – 260 km.
Boundaries and borders: 202 km of state border with the Republic of Moldova. The region has boundaries with 7 regions of Ukraine (Zhytomyr, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Odesa regions).
