Eng.: Switzerland 🤝 Vinnytsia Region: Joining Forces to Develop the Economy, Support Communities, and Rebuild the Region.
On October 28, representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine and the team from the Swiss-Ukrainian project “Cohesion and Regional Development of Ukraine”, UCORD, led by project manager Marina Bril, visited Vinnytsia Oblast.
The working program began with a meeting with regional and city leaders - Vyacheslav Sokolov, Chairman of the Vinnytsia Regional Council; Andriy Kavunts, Deputy Head of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration; Oleksandr Fedorovych, Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration; and Serhiy Morgunov, Mayor of Vinnytsia. Participants discussed the development priorities for the Vinnytsia region, the Regional Development Agency’s contribution to their implementation, and continued support for the Agency’s work. They also discussed how the region and local communities can build on the results achieved with UCORD’s support and ensure the sustainability of this work in the long term.
During the meeting at the Vinnytsia Regional Development Agency, Director Yelyzaveta Savchuk presented the results of the agency’s work and examples of how institutional support and expert guidance help translate regional priorities into concrete initiatives. They also discussed the role of the Regional Development Agency as the National Contact Point for the URBACT program in Ukraine, as well as opportunities and plans for attracting and effectively managing European Union funding.
An important part of the meeting was hearing from those who have already benefited from the Agency’s support. The winners of the “Greenhouse of Ideas” competition shared their practical experience of collaboration, presented their own initiatives, and explained how they are implementing them thanks to grant support.
The next part of the program was a visit to the industrial parks of the Vinnytsia City Territorial Community. Delegation members familiarized themselves with the progress of construction on internal roads and engineering and transportation infrastructure, as well as with work on the creation of water supply and wastewater treatment pumping stations.
A separate area of UCORD’s support is the development of culture and the creative economy. Project representatives visited the initiative to establish the Ukrainian Museum of Contemporary Art in Vinnytsia to learn about its progress, organizational model, and the methodological foundations of the future museum’s operations.
The Vinnytsia region is also developing economic initiatives with UCORD’s support - Clusters4Regions, Export Connect, and PRODUCE - aimed at strengthening cooperation among businesses, expanding export opportunities, and developing production.
The various aspects of this cooperation are united by a common goal: to strengthen Vinnytsia Oblast’s capacity to develop, attract investment, and effectively utilize its own potential.
